Bio & Credentials
I am a clinical psychologist in private practice in Honolulu, Hawaiʻi, where I provide individual and couples therapy, as well as a limited number of neuropsychological and forensic evaluations.
I grew up in Palo Alto, California, studied at Pitzer College, and moved to Hawaiʻi in 1992 to pursue doctoral training in clinical psychology at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. My early academic work focused on cross-cultural psychology, including research in Asia and a doctoral dissertation titled Ethnocultural Perceptions of Psychiatric Symptomatology in Rural Nepal. That background continues to shape the way I approach my work, with attention to each person’s history, relationships, culture, and life circumstances.
I completed my clinical internship at the San Francisco VA Medical Center and my post-doctoral training at The Queen’s Medical Center, Family Treatment Center in Honolulu. I later worked at Waikīkī Health Center before establishing my private practice at Eaton Square in Waikīkī.
Outside of my clinical work, I live in Honolulu with my wife, Thuy, and our son, Zuriel. I also host Mind Tricks Radio, a podcast exploring psychology, creativity, literature, and the human mind.
